Pivotal moment / 744
I've read on this blog, which I follow regularly and I have also read in a book (I cannot remember which one) that the pivotal moment in an adopted child's life is when he or she has lived with you longer than the amount of time he or she has spent in an orphanage.
Here is the detailed calculation:
Duration calculation results
From and including: Wednesday, July 28, 2004 To, but not including : Thursday, August 10, 2006
It is 743 days from the start date to the end date, but not including the end date
Or 2 years, 13 days excluding the end date
Alternative time units743 days can be converted to one of these units:
64,195,200 seconds
1,069,920 minutes
17,832 hours
106 weeks (rounded down)

Jumping from one charity to another
"Yes it went well - completely mad drunken party but overall we have managed to raise £3,200 (half of this was from bids for prizes in an auction). Very close to target so may be able to make it yet - few have promised."I will keep the interactive widget for a few more days so, please help her get her target by simply clicking on it and make a donation!

Akanksha is a great charity. Gitu has done some voluntary work in Mumbai with them last, November, December and January.

My Blog buddy Rachel is also doing some charity...she and her little elves sell some crafts on Etsy. The proceeds from her sales are used to send Christmas gifts to children living in Russian orphanages. To this effect, I am adding another interactive widget on my sidebar showing the items being sold. I already bought a few things from her and I'm tellen ya they are fun!
I guess this is it...unless you want to be one of her little elves...go and check her post out here.

Happy 4th Birthday Darling Sunshine
She saw her cupcakes & fruit arrive with the candles! Look at her expression! Isn't she just PRECIOUS?
You are our Pride and Joy! You are our Sunshine! You are everything we dreamed of in a daughter and more! Today you are 4 years old! You are a Big Girl! You were so happy with all the parties and celebration we had over the week-end, You were so grateful and so gracious thanking us.
I know a day like today could be bitter sweet, but I guess you are still a little young to realise that. As you very well know K is in our hearts always and we shall pray she is happy and safe...how I wish she knew you are safe, healthy and happy with parents who just adore you!
You have a lovely day, a lovely year, may you continue to thrive, be healthy and happy, be loving and caring thoughtful and kind as you are always.
God bless Little Angel.

Happy Girl!

'Cause I wanna remember / parceque je veux m'en souvenir...

Hier on a entendu:

Fund Raising Charity Akanksha

Hi,
We’re doing some fund-raising for a charity called Akanksha that I
recently did some voluntary work for. Akanksha educates kids who live in slums in India and believes that a
good basic education is the best way to help these kids help themselves. It is a
professionally run charity and I have visited the centres and can vouch for the
fact that the money is spent on the kids and not on lots of admin. We’re aiming
to raise £3,500 which is the running cost of an Akanksha centre to educate 60
kids for a whole year! This covers the cost of teachers, materials and field
trips. http://www.akanksha.org/ The Punch Tavern (99 Fleet Street, London) is combining this fund-raiser with
their Summer party for their Members on Tuesday 5 August. Come along if you can,
and/or please consider making an online donation via the following link to the
Just giving site of the UK charity Kinoe (Kids in need of education) which
raises funds for Akanksha. Hopefully a donation of £5/£10/£20 won’t dent your
bank balance too much and it will make a big difference to the kids. www.justgiving.com/davepocock Well, I’m sure you weren’t expecting me to ask for sponsorship to run the
marathon!
All the best,G
I've also inserted a widget on my tool bar on the left, should anyone be interested in helping her reach her
July 9th' edit: Like Hamish, we'll also give 500£ if you, Gitu do the marathon! ;-) who else would do it? Lee? what about Neil & Phillie?
