Nearly there! Bientôt prête!

Demain matin debout 6h30 départ 7h00 pour Auchan avec une copine. Une fois les courses fini 'ti déj chez Oberweis le meilleur patissier de la région, avec une autre amie, puis départ pour la poissonnerie pour le plateau de fruits de mer et enfin rdv chez Pascal pour une coupe et récupérer le vin...Retour à la maison est prévu pour 12h00. La sieste pour tous est prévue ;-)

Tomorrow morning up at 6.30am. I shall leave the house at 7:00 to go to the gorcery store with a friend. Once the groceries are done...breakfast at Oberweis the best patissier / baker in the region with another friend, then we go to the fish mongers to pick up the seafood plater and then we meet at Pascal's for a glass of Champagne and to pick up a few bottles of wine...ETA home 12 (noon). An afternoon nap is scheduled ;-)

We are still sick/ Toujours et encore malade!

Lundi, nous avions enfin notre rdv au centre hospitalier au service des maladies infectueuses...on a tjs des diahrées...en tout j'ai perdu presque 13 kg depuis le mois d'août. Bhavishya et moi devons faire encore 3 coprocultures chacune et ils m'ont fait une nouvelle analyse de sang puisque les résultats de la dernière démontrait que ma fonction hépatique était hors norme...était-ce la dose de cheval d'antibio que j'ai reçu fin novembre début décembre ou est-ce quelque chose d'autres? Ils suspectent que des amibes se sont logés dans mon foie! Prochaine étape échographie du foie...étape suivante...L'institut de médecine Tropicale à Anvers...

Monday we finally went to our appointment at the hospital at the infection disease unit...we still suffer from diarrhoeas...in all I lost nearly 13 kg which is approx 28 Lbs since August. Bhavishya and myself still need to give 3 stool samples and they made me do another blood test as the last one showed that my liver function was way high. Was it the massive dose of antibiotics that I got late November early December that made my liver react this way? They suspect some amibas in my liver! Next step: Liver scan...the one after that is the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerpen.


De son côté Bhavishya a toujours 2 à 3 diahrées par jours tous le 2 ou 3 jours...c'est sporadique...de plus elle nous fait de drôle de boutons sur le dos, les bras, les joues et les oreilles...on avait un rdv en urgence chez le pédiatre hier soir à 20h. Il nous a pris à 10h20. Puis c'était la course pour aller à la pharmacie de garde et retour maison. A cette heure tardive de la nuit elle pétait le feu...elle était prête pour faire une méga JAVA! Quelle coquine...enfin le pédiatre a pris des photos de ces pustules...en mode macro...on a un rdv chez le dermato vendrendi...la question que le pédiatre et sa femme qui est aussi pédiatre se posent est-ce un zona puisqu'elle a été vaccinée contre la varicelle la semaine dernière? (Nous avions décidé de la vacciner contre la varicelle puisqu'on la trouve quand même affaiblie par les diarhées) est-ce la galle? Mais comment peut-elle attraper la galle ici dans des conditions d'hygiène parfaite??? Mystère et boulle de gomme.

Bhavishya still suffers of sporadic diarrhoeas. Furthermore she has horrible rash / scabs on her back, her arms, cheecks and ears. Last night we went for an emergency appointment at the paediatrician. He finally took us at 10:20PM. We rushed to the pharmacy (only a few are open in the whole of the country...we had to drive 20 min away from home to find one that was open). Neddless to say that Bhavishya, at this time of the night was in great shape...ready to party! She was singing, dancing and giggling at the pharmacy! Anyhow...the Paediatrician took lost of pictures in macro mode of her backe etc. for the dermatologist. We have an appointment with him on Friday. We haven't got a diagnosis for Bhavishya...both the Paediatrician and his wife who also practice with him have never seen this. Is it a from of Shingles as she had her chickenpox jab last week? Is it someting else? No clue? Is it contagious? No clue...anyway just the thought of it makes me fell like itching everywhere! HA!

Moi je suis crevée et j'en ai marre de courrir les médecins, les hôpitaux...
I am pooped tired and am fed up running to different Doctors and hospitals...

Aussi j'ai dû m'acheter des nouveaux vêtements...tout est trop grand! On peux mettre 2 Sas dans mes anciennes jupes et pantallon...pas étonnant...je fais maintenant un 36! Mark a retrouvé sa petite femme...eh oui lorsque je l'ai rencontré je pesai 50Kg pour 1m69

Also I had to buy myself some new clothes...everything is way too big! One can put 2 Sas' in my old trousers and skirts...no wonder I am now a size 4 (US)! Mark has found his old little wife...when I first met him in 1991 I was 110LB for 5"6.

So so sad and so so shocking!!!

Pfizer, le laboratoire pharmaceutique américain a annoncé qu'il cessait tous les essais cliniques de son médicament Torcetrapib après avoir reçu les résultats d'une étude montrant un danger potentiel associé à la prise de ce médicament destiné à lutter contre le cholestérol.

Si seulement les entreprises pharaceutiques avaient fait de même avec le Distilbène!!!

If only the pharaceutical companies did the same with DES!!!

Below a picture of an old DES Add! SCANDALOUS! Especially that a published research showed in 1953 that DES did not prevent miscarriages or premature births. Despite this DES continued to be prescribed until 1971 in the US and 1975 in France, Switzerland and many other European countries. Also this same year, the FDA (The Food and Drug Administration)issued a Bulletin advising physicians to stop prescribing DES to pregnant women.

Malgré cette étude, le distilbène était préscrit par les médecin jusqu'en 1971 aux USA et jusqu'en tout cas 1975 en France, Suisse et beaucoup d'autres pays européens. C'est aussi en 1971 que la FDA (the food and Drug administration) a publié un bulletin, conseillant les médecin d'arrêter de préscrire cette cochonnerie aux femmes enceintes.

Back from Hospital / de retour de l'hôpital

We still don't really know what was wrong with me appart that I had such bad tummy problems that I needed to be re-hydrated with a drip. I am on antibiotics and all sorts of other stuff. -11KG since August it's too much especially that I wasn't all that big to start with and the fact that I did not follow any diet! Thank God Mark managed to take some time off to look after Bhavishya and Pashmina. His parents are arriving tonight to take over. I am better but resting resting resting!

On ne sait toujours pas ce qui n'allait pas avec moi. Puisque mes problèmes intestinaux étaient si graves on a dû me mettre sous perf pour me réhydrater. Aussi je suis sous antibios et pleins d'autres trucs. -11KG depuis le mois d'août ça fait beaucoup surtout que je n'étais pas si immense que ça pour commencer et que je ne suivais pas un régime. Heureusement que Mark a pu prendre congé pour s'occuper de Bhavishya et de Pashmina. Mes Beaups arrivent ce soir pour prendre la relève car il doit partir pour Londres. Je vais mieux mais je me repose, repose, repose!

Chui Malade! I am sick!

Friday afternoon at Auntie Dolly's

Après une délicieuse soupe aux courgettes (du potager) faite maison etc. on est parti à l'aventure avec les chiens (Pashmina et sa meilleure copine Luna...une labrador noir...chienne de Dolly) dans le jardin.

After a delicious home made courgettes (from the garden) soup etc. We went for an explore around the garden with the dogs (Pashmina and her best friend Luna...Dolly's dog, a black lab).

Goan Prawns

Last weekend we had friends over and one of the dishes I made was sensational. I did it again last night and it has become one of our favourites. Here is the receipe from Madhur Jaffrey. It is simple to prepare but you need fresh prawns. If for some reason you cannot find good quality prawns you can do it with haddock or salmon and chop them in 11/2 inch cubes.



Ingredients for 4 people

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon bright-red paprika
1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
2 tablespoons ground coriander
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 tablesppon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon salt or taste
100ml water
2 tablesppons olive oil
1/2 teasspoon brown mustard seeds
1 large shallot, cut into fine slivers
2 garlic cloves, cut into fine slivers
400ml can of coconut milk
450 g (1LB) medium-sized raw prawns, peeled, de-veined and rinsed

1) Put the cayenne, paprika, turmeric, coriander, cumin, lemon juice, salt and water in a bowl. Mix well to form a smooth paste and set aside. You can prepare this paste in advance of cooking the curry.

2) Put the oil into a large, deep frying pan and set it over a medium-high het. When it is very hot, put in the mustard seeds. As soon as they begin to pop - a matter of seconds - add the shallot and garlic. Cook, stirring, until they are golden brown. Stir in the spice paste and bring to a simmer. Turn the heat to medium-low, then cover and simmer gently for 10 minutes.

3) Add the coconut milk and prawns and bring to a simmer over a medium-high heat. Once the sauce is bubbling, turn the heat low and simmer, uncovered, until the prawns have just turned opaque. I did sprinkled the dish with fresh coriander leaves but it was not stated in the receipe. It is just that I LOVE fresh coriander and the added colour makes the dish look prettier. Serve immediately.

Serve with plain rice.

I think it's important to mention that the die-hard anti-adoption people LOVE this sort of situation. With the media being total pinheads about adoption in general, the anti-crowd jumps in immediately with their garbage to hijack the story and set the agenda in a way that they hope will cast all adoption in a negative light.

There are many out there ... look to Austrialia for some of the most vociferous ... whose entire goal in life is to remove the option of adoption from the world.

It is vital that those supporting adoption ... those of us who understand deeply the consequences of institutional life and hopelessness because our kids remind us every day of what could have been ... fight these nuts with everything we have and realize that the news we are getting has been manipulated to make adoption look evil, immoral, etc.

Remember this before swallowing news versions of events hook, line and sinker: people who would deny all children a loving adoptive family are hoping you'll take the bait.

In this week's issue of the very "respectable" British weekly magasine called "The Spectator" there was an article about the "Richie's scandal" by what I call a "So-called journaliste" named Melissa Kite.

Never mind, the "Scandal", never mind what the gossip magasines have to say about these celebreties...I could not care less...

Below the quote of the last paragraph of her so called article:

"In years to come, when we in the West have evolved a little, we will come to see cross-border adoption as we now view the slave trade. In 20years' time, maybe a lot less, we will look back and say "do you remember when rich people used to get babies from Africa? My God, did that really happen?" It would be better still if we woke up to this outrage now".

Dans le très respectable hebdomadaire anglais le "Spectator" de cette semaine, il y a un article sur le scandal de la famille "Richie" écrit par la soit disant journaliste Melissa Kite.

Je m'en fou du scandal, je m'en fou des ragots sur les stars que les magasines doivent étaler pour vendre leurs torchons mais là...c'est autre chose. Ci-dessous la traduction du dernier paragraph de son soit disant article:

“Dans les années à venir, lorsque l’ouest aura évolué un peu, nous verrons les adoptions inter-frontières (internationales) de la même manière que nous voyons aujourd’hui la traite des esclaves ! Dans 20 ans, peut-être beaucoup moins, on regardera en arrière et l’on dira « Vous souvenez-vous lorsque les personnes riches allaient chercher leurs bébés en Afrique ? Bon Dieu, est-ce que cela c’est réellement passé ? »Il serait- mieux si l’on se réveillait aujourd’hui de cet outrage ».

I asked myself this morning what have I done to help apart from forwarding a few e-mails?

My Dear Dear Cousin Veronike, battled for years with Breast cancer and eventually lost the war last December at the young age of 42. We miss her so much. She left us far too early and I would like to see things move on this front…make women aware. So I thought I would check some few web sites of companies who sent me emails advertising and asking me to open my wallet and make purchases so proceeds can go towards breast cancer research. I thought that some of the stuff could be nice ideas for Christmas gifts but then again I also wondered what do these companies do the rest of the year? This site has been making the rounds and it's worth a look.

Souvenir de Samedi soir

C'était magique pour Bhavishya samedi soir...devant toutes les bougies elle était en exstase et faisait "waow". Aussi elle a découvert les Bombay et Kashmiri mix et elle les adorent! Elle partage ce qu'elle a au point de présenter les plats aux invités en parfaite hotesse! mdr! Je suis fière d'elle.

It was magical for Bhavishya saturday night. In front of all the candles lite she would admire them and say "waow". She discovered Bombay and Kashmiri mix and adores them! She shares what she has to the point of passing the dishes to guests as a perfect hostess! LoL! I am so proud of her.

Pour info elle porte un habit traditionel du sud de l'Inde. FYI she wears a southern Indian traditional outfit.
